A Drawing for the Library

National Library Week
3

I’m taking a break to thank my library workers this week. They put up with a lot of nonsense and people on an average year and now the agency that sends grants to fund our public libraries has been gutted. So I’m just thinking about my local library and how it is always busy with families in the children’s room and older people in the periodical section and teens pretending not to do homework in the teen section. And how they gave out free covid tests during the pandemic.

Brooklyn Public Library let’s you thank a specific librarian when you send a form letter to your city leaders. You can also send an electronic postcard through Unite Against Book Bans to your local library to show your support. You can also donate to Queens Public Library. ALA has a comprehensive list of actions to take and a video with Raina Telgemeier and Scott McCloud.

P.S. As you can see, the video is speeded up. I also cut out all the long pauses where I am just thinking about what I should do next. Important but boring to watch. My finger really is in a splint because I jammed it a few weeks ago being careless and rushing. Don’t worry it doesn’t hurt at all.
